Autism Research

Hi! My name is Alexa, and I’m a researcher at the Autism Research Centre in the University of Cambridge.

We are studying hormones in adults with autism, parents of individuals with autism, and neurotypical adults to try and understand how hormones influence behaviour in these groups. We’re particularly struggling to recruit adult women on the spectrum, and fathers of children with an ASC.

The study takes about 25 minutes, and involves a visit to Cambridge. We’re asking our volunteers to provide a small blood or saliva sample, and to answer a few online questionnaires. We can cover the cost of travel to Cambridge, and we can offer participants an additional £10 as a thank you.

We need women who are participating in this study to not be pregnant, post-menopausal, breastfeeding, or currently using hormonal contraception. Interested volunteers can contact me, Alexa Pohl, at ap278@medschl.cam.ac.uk or at .

If you have questions about the study, please email me – I love talking about research!
